Dedicated specialist teams developed to better deliver on the needs of community pharmacists

American healthcare technology company Omnicell has appointed Edward Platt as the new Senior Commercial Director of its UK community pharmacy division.

Along with this new role, Edward, who joined Omnicell in 2015, will continue his current leadership remit for Omnicell’s UK & Ireland hospital division.

He will be leading a revamped commercial team, which would be responsible for increasing Omnicell’s footprint of automation and consumable solutions delivered into UK community pharmacies.

As part of the revamp, the company has created dedicated specialist teams to ensure the needs and challenges of community pharmacists (small independents and small multiple operators) can be fully understood and supported.

“Community pharmacies need to make tangible change to their operating models, and we see the adoption of automation as key in helping them evolve into sustainable and successful businesses. With our new and repurposed team, we are fully committed to supporting community pharmacists and helping them to realise the benefits of harnessing technology,” he added.

Kath Hughes, who has 25 years of experience in supplying solutions into the healthcare sector, has been appointed as Senior National Sales Manager, and she will be managing Omnicell’s national chains and buying group relationships.

Tariq Hussain, who brings more than 20 years of experience in supplying pharmacy automation and pharmaceuticals to community pharmacy, will be responsible for the company’s major multiple operators as National Strategic Account Manager.

Additionally, three new Regional Sales Managers have been appointed to support the needs of more than 400 small multiple pharmacy businesses, and two people to focus on supporting the needs of small independent pharmacies.
