The technology leaders aim to address the increasing pressure on community pharmacies to enhance patient safety while improving operational efficiency

Omnicell UK & Ireland, a leading provider of pharmacy and nursing care automation solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with Gollmann to integrate the German manufacturers’ advanced robotic storage and dispensing technology into its retail and central pharmacy solutions portfolio.

This collaboration aims to address the increasing pressure on community pharmacies and hospitals to enhance patient safety and meet strict regulatory standards while improving operational efficiency.

By combining Omnicell’s extensive expertise with Gollmann’s innovative technology, the partnership intends to streamline real-time medication dispensing and loading activities, thereby delivering improved workflows and outcomes.

Nnamdi Njoku, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Omnicell, highlighted the company’s commitment to providing software and automation solutions to ensure “safe, efficient medication and supply management across the healthcare continuum.”

“Through strategic relationships with technology leaders like Gollmann, and others announced earlier this month with TrackTraceRX, LSPedia, and Follett, we are growing our solutions portfolio as we seek to meet the evolving needs of our global customers, while being focused on driving greater efficiency and working to improve patient safety across hospital and retail settings,” he said.

Gollmann has produced over 3,000 robotic installations since 2006, offering custom automation solutions for both community pharmacies and hospitals.

The integration of these solutions is expected to benefit pharmacies by improving storage efficiency and easing daily logistical challenges.

Patented rolling storage technology allows Gollmann robotic storage to store up to 50 per cent more products within the same floor space compared to conventional robots.

The company offers an array of add-on solutions such as automatic-loading, service counter dispensation, and expiry date recognition designed to streamline daily operations, which would free up pharmacy staff to focus on patient care.

Gollmann solutions offer systematic and regular maintenance and can be adapted to accommodate pharmacy growth and future industry changes.

Daniel Gollmann, CEO and founder of Gollmann, stated that the partnership aims to “deliver a comprehensive offering that is designed to drive efficiency and innovation through tailored automation solutions.”
