RPS thanks pharmacy colleagues for working through “extremely busy period”

In an open letter to pharmacy colleagues, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) praised the work being done by them over this "extremely busy period."

Expressing gratitude towards pharmacists RPS said “Patients rely on you and we are so proud of the work you are doing.”

It said the incredible work of pharmacists, in all settings, have ensured that patients have access to medicines and advice during the pandemic.

Calling pharmacists an integral part of the profession, RPS said they not only prescribe and advise the public, but also play a key role in teaching future pharmacists, developing new medicines, running and supporting clinical trials.

It highlighted that pharmacy teams have worked behind the scenes to deliver the Covid vaccination programme and now the roll out of Covid-19 antiviral programme.

The joint letter written by Claire Anderson, RPS president, Andrew Carruthers, chair of RPS in Scotland, Thorrun Govind, chair of RPS in England and Cheryl Way, chair of RPS in Wales, stated: “We are grateful to them and to every pharmacy team in every setting for their dedication to patient care at this challenging time.”

“We know the toll the pandemic is taking on you and your families, and we will continue to fight to get you the support you deserve.”

Sending Christmas and New Year greetings, RPS said: “We are privileged to represent you and we want to continue to hear about your concerns and successes next year.”
