The UK’s largest independent pharmacy chain Well Pharmacy has announced that 60 community pharmacy sites across England to administer Covid-19 booster vaccines.
These sites, selected by NHS England, will offer Covid-19 booster vaccine with the NHS flu jab to eligible patients.
The announcement comes after a research by Well Pharmacy suggested that 90 per cent of people aged 50 and above intend to have the booster dose when offered.
As per the government guidelines, booster jabs will initially be offered to people aged 50 years and over, health and social care workers and to the most vulnerable, six months after the second Covid jab was administered.
The NHS will invite the eligible patients for the Covid-19 booster dose when they are due for it.
Louis Purchase, operations director at Well Pharmacy said: “Community Pharmacy is perfectly placed to support the NHS to deliver nationwide vaccination services at scale and pace in a community healthcare setting. Our highly skilled and qualified pharmacists and pharmacy teams are easily accessible, trusted and known by their local communities to support their health and wellbeing.”
Ifti Khan, pharmacy superintendent at Well Pharmacy added that it is safe to have both vaccinations at the same time.
Well is also offering the flu and pneumonia vaccination services from over 750 pharmacies across the UK this winter.
